Program Description

This qualification reflects the role of individuals who apply advanced knowledge and skills in a range of strategic leadership and management roles.

Individuals at this level make high level autonomous decisions and use initiative and judgement to plan and implement a range of leadership and management functions in varied contexts. They have full responsibility and accountability for personal outputs and for the work or function of others. They use cognitive and creative skills to review, critically analyse, consolidate and synthesise knowledge, in order to generate ideas and provide solutions to complex problems. They use communication skills to demonstrate their understanding of theoretical concepts and to transfer knowledge and ideas to others.

ENTERY REQUIREMENTS

Entry to this qualification is limited to those who: Have completed a Diploma or Advanced Diploma qualification in related fields of study and 3 years equivalent full-time relevant workplace experience at a significant level of leadership and management responsibility and/or complexity in an enterprise.

or
Have completed a Bachelor degree in related fields of study and 2 years equivalent full-time relevant workplace experience at a significant level of leadership and management responsibility and/or complexity in an enterprise.

or

Have five years equivalent full-time relevant workplace experience at a significant level of leadership and management responsibility and/or complexity in an enterprise.

ASSESSMENT METHODS

This course is assessed using a diverse range of assessment strategies to ensure we cover the assessment conditions for each unit of study and provide our students with interesting and flexible assessment experiences.

All assessments are completed in your own time and submitted online, with no assessment due dates. This modern and flexible approach is designed to reduce the uncomfortable pressure and unnecessary stress that traditional assessment testing is so famous for.

Many assessments will include researching, reading and analysing information on your computer, laptop or tablet (Internet required), however each unit of study provides assessment instructions and benchmarks you can easily follow to successfully complete each assessment task.

By Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) If you believe you already have the knowledge and skills to achieve this qualification we encourage you to apply for Recognition of Prior Learning.

PATHWAYS FROM THIS QUALIFICATION
Potential employment options are in a range of leadership and roles in a range of industry areas. Students who complete this course may wish to continue their education into the Master programs in related fields at Universities or any other Higher Education Institution.

REFUND
DGSM will make a full refund of all fees paid should course be discontinued.  Should the participant desire to take an alternative course with DGSM, fees will be fully transferable to that course.  In the event of a course for which the participant was enrolled being unavailable or no acceptable alternative course is available fees are fully refundable, including any deposit paid.’

Should a participant cancel an enrolment with DGSM, the following conditions will apply regarding a refund of fees:

• Those who withdraw more than 14 days before the scheduled start of the course, will be entitled to a full refund of fees paid
• Those withdrawing within 14 days of the schedule start of the training program will be entitled to 50% of fees paid
• No refunds or transfers will be given for cancellations of discontinuations after a course commencement date.

IF for any reason DGSM cannot complete the training students will receive a refund proportional to the amount of training not delivered

The elective unit options listed represent the  School's approved elective unit options offered. This is a reduced list from the qualification packaging rules specified electives list. If you would like an elective unit that is not included in this list, please speak to your Trainer/Assessor.

All sessions are supported by learning materials, readings and intensive coaching and mentoring by facilitators, as well as online, email and phone support

INTERNET AND COMPUTER REQUIREMENTS
Several units of competency require the use of a computer. You are expected to supply your own device such as a laptop, notebook or pad that is capable of Wi-Fi connectivity and loaded with the Microsoft suite of programs.

FEE PROTECTION
In line with the RTO’s Fee Protection Policy the RTO will not collect more than $1,500 prior to course commencement.

DELIVERY MOODE
This program is delivered in the classroom and through structured self-study.

DELIVERY AND ASSESSMENT STRATEGIES
The qualification is delivered over 52 weeks comprising of:
• Four (4) terms of 10 weeks each - 40 weeks total
• Holiday breaks amounting to 12 weeks (as specified in the timetable)
Students are required to attend 15 hours of classroom training per week and complete structured self-study of 5 hours per week.

The training and assessment schedule shows the weeks during which training is delivered and assessment conducted for each unit.

The total amount of training provided being structured classroom sessions is 456 hours and for structured self-study is 200 hours.

Time scheduled for assessment in class is 144 hours. Homework which is unsupervised and may include research for assessments and general reading is expected to be on average 5 hours a week.

Total delivery and assessment hours therefore amount to 800 hours and the volume of learning (i.e. including unsupervised learning of homework) is 1,000 hours.

ASSESSMENT APPEALS
Assessment appeals Students can make an appeal against any assessment decision by following the Complaints and Appeals Policy outlined in the Student Handbook. Appeals will be dealt with following the Complaints and Appeals Procedure.

Program Description

This rigorous and challenging course is at the highest level of study available in the vocational education sector in Australia.

The Graduate Diploma of Management (Learning) is applicable to both Government and the private sector and is highly suited to specialists in human resources development, learning, and training, and to individuals who would like to develop their leadership and capability development skills in this area.

Organisations wishing to develop the capacity of their HRD and training staff for the future will also find the Graduate Diploma invaluable. Leadership, learning strategy, organisational development, change and innovation are some of the key concepts and areas which this qualification covers.

This qualification reflects the role of individuals who apply substantial specialised knowledge and skills in the field of learning and capability development. In these roles they are required to generate and evaluate complex ideas, and to initiate, design and execute major learning and development functions within an organisation.

Typically, they would have full responsibility and accountability for the personal output and work of others.

The qualification is also ideal for leaders and managers in organisations in which learning is used to build capability and engage the workforce - in these roles they harness learning to enhance existing practices and thinking, workforce capability and career development. In addition, the qualification would also be highly suitable to professionals or managers in Registered Training Organisations and other training and development organisations.​

The course covers eight (8) units of competency taken from the Training Package. There are three (3) core units and five (5) elective units.
